This small community bordering Milwaukee, Wisconsin, wanted an old "rails to trails" bridge to become a welcoming gateway for the neighborhood. The concept was to tell a story of bridge's famous historic train, the fastest of its time, through the use of kinetic light and sound. The idea was born to create the allusion of the train passing over the bridge with strategically placed color changing fixtures paired with dynamic programming. The"train"runs twice a night, once in each direction at the speed of its historic predecessor. During the off schedule times, the bridge welcomes the community with colorful, artistic lighting effects. Michelle's role on this project was Lead Lighting Designer with CLD-E and was awarded an IALD Award of Merit.
